Pigeons flood the park as the sun starts to set. The collective sound of their stomachs growling causes all of the Sunday picnicers to pack up and flee for their homes. I find that i'm just as hungry as the birds. I stand like a scarecrow hoping that they will find some bit of solace resting on my arms, my shoulders, my head. My body grows heavy, while my spirit takes flight. Patiently waiting for something, for anything, but ultimately nothing. Feathers fall like fresh snow.

The sun bleeds into the sides of rolling hills, casting glimpses and winks of golden light onto fields of tall grasses. You lay quietly, reduced to a bag of shallow-breathing bones. My hand lies motionless next to yours, contemplating strategic moves, but decides to entwine with its own, laying on top of my chest. I close my eyes and become a silent ghost; a pure listening presence. A sigh slips from your lips like an offering to the clouds. My heart breaks, and mends itself into something stronger, simultaneously. My hand falls off my body into the grass like a boulder crashes down a cliff into the sea. I scoop up your hand too quickly, causing your whole body to jump. I loosen my grip, and like a plug pulled out of a great dam, I feel your body turn into light. We offer up to the clouds, the sounds of rustling grass and the humming of lullabies.

did you know you were going to shoot
off the top of a four year old girl's head
and look across her car-seat down into her skull
and see into her throat and did you know
that her dad would say to you,
"Please sir, can I take her body home?"
Oh wait, you totally did know that would happen
cause you're a jock who was too stupid and too greedy
and too unmotivated to do anything else but still be
the biggest and still do what other people tell you to do
you did it to still be a winner
you shot your grenade launcher into peoples windows and
into the doors of peoples houses
but you wanted to shoot it into someone
just to watch them blow up
why should I care if you get killed?
